ALL SONGS WRITTEN BY STEVIE SIMPSON - ONE BLOKE ONE MANDOLIN

These songs here are a compilation of songs of the sea from my albums. They come from a love of the sea, nurtured from an early age by my father. Dad served in the Royal Navy for thirteen years up until I was four years old. Whilst serving in the RN he traveled far and wide and visited the Antarctic twice, then once he had served his time and returned home to Eastbourne for good he would take me beach fishing most weekends. We would sit and watch Jack Hargreaves' program Out Of Town of an early evening on Fridays and if The Undersea World Of Jacques Cousteau was on TV we never missed an episode.
My ancestors, every generation, traceable back through to the 1700s have been seafarers serving in both the Royal and the Merchant navy, some have been pleasure boatmen, some lifeboatmen and fishermen. In Victorian times some owned a number of bathing machines, a cabin on wheels for the prude to preserve their dignity and in the 1820s two of my ancestors, John and William Simpson were commissioned by the MP John 'Mad Jack' Fuller to build the first lifeboat in Eastbourne, a few years before the RNLI was created. There are stories in my family of smugglers, shipwrecks, lives lived, loved and lost. These are my Sea Songs. Thank you.
