The Devil's Calling
03:59
|

The devil''s coming
The Devil's coming
The Devil's coming
It's a dark and stormy night
Says he's gonna meet me
Says he's gonna meet me
Says he's gonna meet me
Gonna sell my soul tonight
Gonna make me money
Gonna make me money
Gonna make me money
With my music and my moan
The devil calls me
The devil calls me
The devil calls me
But I'm working every day
Sold my soul for fame and fortune
Sold my soul for fame and fortune
Sold my soul for fame and fortune
That's the price I have to pay
Seven years of waiting
Seven years of waiting
Seven years of waiting
But the devil's gonna have his way
Yeah the devil's gonna have his way
Said the devil's gonna have his way

When the wheels came off the road
On that old go-cart that we found
You were doing twenty-five
And I watched your knee explode
As you skidded along the ground
But you never cried
You were always there my brother showing me
Nearly always getting home in time for tea
And as the years roll by somethings stay the same
Many friends have moved on but some friends never change
And the times we drank 'til dawn
At the clubhouse with your friends
How I suffered the next day
But I never heard you moan
My broken head I had to mend
That's the price I had to pay
You were always there my brother showing me
Sobering me up with cups of strong coffee
And as the years roll by somethings stay the sa
me
Many friends have moved on but some friends never change
And as the years and beers pass byThe many good times that we've had
And many more I'll gladly spend
Another ride another time
So many places left to go
So here's to you my long time friend
You were always there my brother showing me
Nearly always getting home in time for tea
And as the years roll by somethings stay the same
Many friends have moved on but some friends never change
Some friends never change

Tornado (DEMO)
04:14
|
|||
The tornado blew through town
It tore the Mission building down
Seven citizens lay in the ground
I was the age of fifteen years
And it filled me full of fear
It was the worst thing in my life I'd ever known
As the evening turned to night
The weather warnings came too late
Touching down there was no time to get away
Seeking shelter as we should
To ride the storm out if we could
To see the carnage at first light the next day
There was debris in the air and in the streets and everywhere
As it smashed into the buildings and the cars
And the screaming of the wind seemed like it would never end
I prayed that no one in my family had been harmed
The ferocity so fierce
That the silence felt like death
It was a miracle so many had survived
We'd come through a living hell
With a tale that we could tell
And I'll tell you now it's great to be alive
There was debris in the air and in the streets and everywhere
As it smashed into the buildings and the cars
And the screaming of the wind seemed like it would never end
And I'll tell you now it's great to be alive
And I'll tell you now it's great to be alive
I'll tell you now it's great to be alive

The Devil's Deal
03:57
|
|||
I was sitting in a bar one night drinking on my own
When a stranger came and sat down next to me
He said friend I'll show you something not too many have been shown
Something not too many more have seen
He invited me to step outside and check out his machine
As I neared the beast it seemed to heave and moan
And I tell you friend it looked the finest custom bike I'd seen
I swear it had a lifeforce of its own
Blacker than a shadow on a dark deep moonless night
It fired up and I heard that engine growl
And then he asked of me a question
Come on son, would you like this bike
I heard the beast within me start to howl
Well he said he'd accept part exchange my bike for his machine
And as he spoke I saw his eyes were black as coal
There was more to this here deal than I'd already seen
I guessed that he was angling for my soul
Blacker than a shadow on a dark deep moonless night
It fired up and I heard that engine growl
And then he asked of me a question
Come on son, would you like this bike
I heard the beast within me start to howl
So I took the keys and I fired up that bike
I watched that demons smile begin to fade
I hit the road at eighty burning up that old turnpike
He realised the mistake that he'd made
Because you can't outsmart the devil, he's a tricksy one himself
Especially when he's after a new ride
And he'll leave you with a pile of junk not fit for on a shelf
While he's out there playing on your pride
Blacker than a shadow on a dark deep moonless night
It fired up and I heard that engine growl
Then I looked behind me once and watched that demon disappear
And then my laughter turned into a howl
And then my laughter turned into a howl

Slaughter
05:42
|
|||
Sitting in a graveyard he rests against the stone
Of his daddy now departed to where a boxer's spirit roams
Memories come flooding back of every fight he'd won
Sitting there he sheds a tear for a father from his son
For Slaughter
Well they called his daddy slaughter in the stories they would tell
how he'd come out of his corner like a demon coming out of hell
And he never heard the bell once to mark the end of the third round
'Cos by the time he'd hit them half a dozen times they'd be laying on the ground
Slaughter got his nickname when the fair had come to town
He fought the fairground champion and in the second put him down
With fists that hit like hammers the fighting soon was done
And the crowd went wild and cheered and roared because the local boy had won
They called him Slaughter
Then the towns and halls and rings and bellsbecame the only life he
knew
He trained and sparred and fought and won and always kept his cool
And he never done nobody wrong except to hurt them in the ring
'Cos when the first punch found the distance and second one would sting
And he courted, married, had a kid who loved to watch each night
The boy would sit there ringside for the duration of the fight
As the years went by the fights grew hard but he retired at the top
And then late one night in a bar room fight Slaughter's life was stopped
Poor Slaughter
Sitting in a graveyard he rests against the stone
Of his daddy now departed to where a boxer's spirit roams
Memories come flooding back of every fight he'd won
But the round that put him down came from the barrel of a gun
For Slaughter
Poor Slaughter
Oh oh Slaughter
Oh Slaughter

The Mechanic
04:37
|
|||
Well I may have dirty fingernails but my hands are mostly clean
An old mechanic down the race track is what I've mostly been
I fought in a war I came back home I did what I could do
Then a guy down here made me an offer and I built me a car or two
Well the first I raced on Saturday nights at a dirt track outside town
And every now and then I damn near died as I learned my way around
'Cos the car that I built was better than me sometimes I couldn't keep pace
I'd spin off in a corner denting my ego and the car would look a disgrace
There's pots up there and on the wall a photograph or two
From the times I won or came close second ain't a single one of them new
And if you've the stones I think you have a deal I'll offer you
Twenty years of racing hell.... but then a debt is due
This deal here that I'm offering you comes all in with a car
My second built with someone just like you in mind, a star
I'll pass on my experience, you'll work with me and race
And I promise you in some years time a podium first place
Cos it's carburetor sucks more than ever than I've ever known before
And you should see it go when it hits full flow with my foot hard to the floor
Nights spent in the workshop to tune that motor up
And in the muted glow the stereo plays Cooley's 'Daddy's Cup'
Now you may think this a devils deal but I want your heart not soul
And if you give me your's I'll give you mine and we'll reach a mutual goal
Your name's upon the contract all you need to do is sign
So make your mark, mark it true and cross that finish line
There's pots up there and on the wall a photograph or two
From the times I won or came close second and you can have that too
And if you've the stones I think you have a deal I'll offer you
Twenty years of racing hell.... but then a debt is due
If you've the time to spare a thought there's worse things you could be
Than winding up working here an old mechanic just like me

Heading Home
05:57
|
|||
I look across and you're there by my side
Upon this road togrether as we ride
The sun is in the distance sinking low
With a cool breeze at our backs we're heading home
There's freedom when we party and when we ride
But there's more to this than that deep down inside
The sun is in the distance sinking low
With a cool breeze at our backs we're heading home
Oh the bikes the beers the bars where we would party through the night
And the times we'd lick our wounds after a fight
What started with a bunch of friends is club and bond now to the end
And a pack of bikes upon the road a sight
Oh the bikes the beers the bars where we would party through the night
And the times we'd lick our wounds after a fight
What started with a bunch of friends is club and bond now to the end
And a pack of bikes upon the road a sight
I'll ride with you my good friend all our days
The bond more than the patch could ever say
As we ride towards a sun that's sinking low
With a cool breeze at our backs we're heading home
With a cool breeze at our backs we're heading home
With a cool breeze at our backs.... heading home
